What a great opening party!

The book’s premiere event at Big Blue Marble Bookstore in Philadelphia was gratifying and wonderful. Faith Paulsen shared the event with her first chapbook The Color of Harvest (Finishing Line Press, 2016).

To a packed house, we started the evening by each reading 3 poems by other poets that address these times we are in. Faith and I didn’t talk about our choices in advance – and it turns out we both chose poems by Ellen Bass, and chose the same poem by Jane Hirshfield. Of course we did!

Then we each did a set, with a break in between to eat and drink and catch up. I had brought exactly twice as much dessert as any reasonable group of celebrants might consume. Some I gave away, some I took to other events during the week, and some, quite honestly, I still have stashed in my freezer.  Sometime this spring I’ll show up with raspberry or lemon tort to a party near you….
